Cris has a passion for photography and takes pride in studying the various creative poses that he will present the subject he is photographing to engage the audience in his work. He also retouches photos with ever so much care. On the following picture by Zwelethu we can see how the subject is located in the middle of the frame of the image, not to far from its background which are the walls behind her covered by newspaper pages. The depth of field is not shallow as other photographs, based on this online copy and quality I can see that he is using a high f-stop because everything is in focus, except the door that is also covered in newspaper pages. shutter speed is frozen and looks like he might had taken it from a tripod because in order to compensate the higher f-stop he must has needed a slower shutter speed. the lighting the he used looks natural light, giving the image a tungsen, yellowish color to it.

1. What does the photograph make you think about?

The photograph makes me think about loneliness and poverty at the same time. We can see how she is posing alone and does not seem very content. At the same time, we can appreciate her surrounding in this case it looks like her house, and due to the glued newspaper pages all over the wall, we can conclude that she is not living in the best conditions, but is very organized and clean as we can see in the shelf with al the cups and pots.

2. How does the photograph make you feel?

It makes me feel a little compassionate about others that don't have the same opportunities or lives as us.

3. What do you think happened right before the photo was taken? Right After?

It looks that the photographer posed the model in that position, because we can see through her eyes that she looks very aware of what is going on. On the other he might had probably taken a whole series of photographs right after this one.

4. Look online to see more images from the show. What is the difference between seeing the photograph online vs. seeing it in-person?

I'll have to say the main difference is the size, colors and DOF, I think that because the real prints were so big, we were able to see a presence of DOF more easily and also the colors seemed more vivid.

5. What do you think Zwelethu is trying to tell the viewer with his photos?

That there are many people in other countries who are less fortunate then us, and that still struggle hard in order to survive, but meaning that one is less fortunate or poor, does not mean that one should not be disorganized.

6. Do you think the specific photo you selected gets those ideas across?

I think yes, because the first thing that comes to our mind when we see this image is her environment, how she covered her walls instead of using wallpaper, with just plain newspaper sheets. But if we focus more on her, we can see that she is organized and maintains a neat and clean array of cups and pots.

7. What do you think his subjects are getting from being photographed? Why do you think they agree to let him into their homes?

I think that they are probably obtaining some monetary compensation, and they agreed to get photograph so that everyone else could see the conditions that they live under.

8. What are your impressions of the installation? The sizes of the prints? The lighting in the museum?

I think the installation was great, as same as the size of the prints. It is much better seeing an image in print then through a website. You get a better feeling of what you see and also a better visual of the technical parts of the photograph. At the same time, the lighting in the museum complemented adequately with each print.

9. How do you think the images play off of each other based on their installation?

The play off with one another in my opinion because they mainly put the large images on the main floor, so one could be able to see it from far away, having more space to also see multiple images at once and how each one connected to the others.
